Photo: Mr. Smith, overseer at Wylie Mill, with four children, Chester, South Carolina
Website: http://www.getty.edu/art/collection/objects/61519/lewis-w-hine-mr-smith-overseer-at-wylie-mill-with-four-children-chester-south-carolina-american-november-1908/
Photographer: Lewis Hine
1) The characters are 4 young children who work at a Mill in South Carolina with their boss, Mr. Smith.
2) The kids look like they are upset and they don't want to be working. They look extremely tired and dirty. Mr. Smith looks like he is trying to act professional and run a cheap-labor business.
3) The kids look like they are feeling tired, overworked, and defeated. Mr. Smith looks like he is feeling professional and better than the poor kids sitting next to him.
4) The relationship between the characters is that the adult (mr. Smith) is the overseer and the kids' boss and he is not doing hard labor, while the children are the employees and do all of the physical work.
5) It looks like they have been working all day and they are on a break or about to go home. But the boys are very dirty so it seems as though they have already been working.
6) They story is about child labor in America in the 1930s and how unfair and unjust it truly was.

1) The characters are 2 men in suits walking down a street to go to work.
2) They both look like they are thinking they know the other person or the other person looks familiar.
3) They both feel uneasy, concerned, and curious.
4) They both have a relationship to the setting: they are walking to somewhere they need to be down a side street in the city. Their relationship to each other is that they think they recognize each other.
5) In the photo the 2 men are walking down a side street and once they pass each other they both look back at the other, one at a time, and keep walking.
6) The story is about 2 people who think they recognize each other.

2nd Photo in gallery
Photographer: ?
1) The story is about Vietnam Vets at the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne.
2) How each photograph contributes to the story:
Establishing Shot: establishes the setting of the story and gives a visual of the reason why people are going there
Action Shot: shows people showing up to the Shrine, shows people coming to support their fellow soldiers, and that people care
Portrait Image: shows who is showing up to the Shrine and shows who will be a part of the photo story; get to know a little bit about the people who are going to visit
Detail Image: shows small, important details about the people in the story or the setting of the story itself; gives more background and clues in viewer to a certain detail to give them a more complete look on the story and situation

Activity 5 (5 photos I would choose)...
Activity 5 (5 photos Liz chose and enhanced)...
Activity 5 (Liz's Photos that I enhanced)...
Activity 5 Reflection...
1) To showcase what a day is like in my life from going to school to studying for tests.
2) Yes Liz did a great job choosing and fixing my photos in photoshop. I really like the way that she corrected them and I think it helps add to the story.
3) She changed the lighting, brightness, contrast, exposure, balance, sharpen
4) Yes I really liked the enhancements! I think that Liz did a really good job enhancing them.
5) At first I didn't really like it because I didn't know if my vision for the story would change if other people got to change things in their own way. But in the end I think Liz did a really good job and the pictures came out great! I wish she could enhance all 15 of my photos.
6) Posted above with title "Activity 5 (5 photos I would choose)"....
7) Photo 1: it shows me getting to school
Photo 2: shows how my day starts off and what it is like to go to school at Georgetown
Photo 3: shows kids studying during midterms (just like me)
Photo 4: show all of my homework at my house and what my afternoon looks like while studying
Photo 5: the pay off in the end = good grades = college
